Funded Opportunities in the USA with Applications Due by February

The first month of Year 2021 is already coming to a close and if you haven't taken action on your study abroad dreams or launch to your international career, now is the time to do so! This post highlights 5 fully paid scholarship and internship opportunities in the USA for students and recent graduates.

1. Rachel Carson Scholarship

Affiliated Institution: Chatham University

The Rachel Carson Scholarship is an annually renewable scholarship that covers tuition for each academic year, for a total of four years (or 120 credits) of study at Chatham University.

Deadline: February 1st, 2021.


2. Fund Internship Program (FIP)

Affiliated Organization: International Monetary Fund

Successful applicants will undertake a 10-12 week paid internship in Washington D.C., between June and October 2021 either in-person or virtually. The precise dates of the internship will be agreed between the intern and IMF supervisor at time of offer. The 2020 Fund Internship Program cohort completed their internship virtually given the COVID-19 work restrictions at IMF headquarters. Under the guidance of an experienced IMF colleague, you will conduct research and analysis on a topic determined by the Fund. Your work may culminate in a research paper, and may be published internally.

Deadline: February 15th, 2021.

3. The Bank Internship Program (BIP)

Affiliated Organization: The World Bank The Bank Internship Program (BIP) offers highly motivated individuals an opportunity to be exposed to the mission and work of the World Bank. The internship allows individuals to bring new perspectives, innovative ideas and research experience into the Bank's work, while improving skills in a diverse environment. To be eligible for an Internship, candidates must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a full-time graduate study program (pursuing a master's degree or PhD with plans to return to school full-time). There is no age limit.

Deadline: 31st January, 2021.


4. The President's Scholarship

Affiliated Institution: Illinois Wesleyan University

Two full-tuition scholarships are awarded each year to highly qualified international undergraduate students based on their talents, interests and academic achievements. The President's Scholarship is renewable for up to four years of study.

Deadline: 15th February, 2021.


5. Columbia University Scholarship for Displaced Students

Affiliated Institution: Columbia University

The Scholarship supports displaced students from anywhere in the world who are unable to complete their higher education. These students will receive full tuition, housing, and living assistance while pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees across all 18 Columbia schools and affiliates, reflecting Columbia’s full institutional commitment to addressing this global crisis. As the first-ever Columbia-wide scholarship, and the world's first scholarship of its kind, this program will commit up to $6 million in support, per cohort, for up to 30 students each year. Mentoring and support will be provided by the Scholarship, as well as by schools and student groups at Columbia.
